Boiler EPB acceptance
Mandatory acceptance after installing, replacing or moving your gas boiler, oil boiler or water heater. Compliant with EPB heating rules.
Every region sets environmental rules for heating installations — this is what is called EPB heating, and it is not the same thing as the EPC certificate for the home itself. In Brussels the rules come from Brussels Environment; in Wallonia, from the SPW.
The EPB acceptance is a systematic inspection carried out after a combustion appliance is installed, replaced or moved (gas boiler, oil boiler, water heater). Atlas Contrôle is approved to sign off Type 1 installations (< 70 kW) and Type 2 installations (> 100 kW or cascades).
ⓘ Language of the report: the official report is issued in French or Dutch, as Belgian law requires. An English summary is available on request, free of charge.
Type 1 — boiler under 70 kW
Small and medium residential installations. Acceptance after installation or replacement — this is what makes the installation compliant with regional rules.
Type 2 — over 100 kW or cascade
Large installations, apartment blocks, boilers in cascade. Includes the full combustion measurement and the logbook.
Gas water heaters
Since 2020 in Brussels, every gas appliance has to be signed off — water heaters and boilers under 20 kW included.
Periodic inspections
Oil and pellets: every year. Gas ≤ 100 kW: every 3 years in Wallonia, every 2 years in Brussels. Gas > 100 kW: every 2 years.
Modification or relocation
Acceptance is mandatory again after the burner is replaced, the boiler moved, or any work done on the combustion side.
